New media technology has afforded an opportunity for Black online radio producers to create online Radio stations through collaboration. This is an opportunity for meaningful voices discussing meaningful topics to be heard by wider audiences and an opportunity to bring meaningful music to the masses in an effort to eliminate the economic and mental control that corporations hold over Black people.
As written in the forthcoming e-book “Internet Broadcasting on a Budget”, “it has been estimated that since 2008, Internet Radio has attracted over 33 million listeners per year and with more electronic devices being brought into the market place that allow people to access the Internet in automobiles and through televisions, those numbers will continue to increase”.
The Black Talk Media Project is a N.C. based non-profit using new media technology and social networking tools to inspire and train those interested in becoming citizen journalist and independent media producers.
Through collaborative efforts with media partners, students and ordinary members of the community, we are raising the visibility and viability of new media targeting African-Americans and others in the global Black community.
The Black Talk Media Project has identified the ways and means to create several online radio stations that broadcast up to 22 hours a day each. It has identified low cost and free software essential in producing high quality programs. For as little as $20 per month you can be a part of this historic effort to take control of the Internet airwaves, provide economic opportunity and more importantly, influence the minds of the masses. If this is important to you then you do not want to miss an upcoming conference call.
We are looking for those that can produce two-hour online radio programs either live or pre-recorded five days out of the week. If you are currently producing a program that only broadcasts once per week, we still may be able to accomodate and include you in this project.
This is a collaborative project and all those considering participating should be able to work well with others, be dependable, trustworthy and of ethical and high moral character. We are looking for both talk and music programs that play Indie only or otherwise have obtained the permission of the artist to air their music.
This is a private call and participants must be pre-screened before recieving an invite. Once all participants have been screened, a date will be set for the online conference which will be recorded for those unable to make the live call. If you know someone whom you think should be on this call please have them submit their information.
